Beth Moore: "(God) began to say to me, ‘I’m gonna tell you something right now, Beth, and boy you write this one down, and you say it as often as I give you utterance to say it....'"

  1. Talk about charismatic! I'm surprised that the SBC would allow this. But it's Beth Moore, so I guess she gets a free pass...

  2. I find it interesting that all the blogs are suddenly finding this stuff from Beth Moore's "Believing God" series. The ladies at my church in 2005 asked me to review this 10-hour torture series and my report led to the pastor pulling it from use.

    In 2007 and 2008 Personal Freedom Outreach did a couple articles exposing Beth Moore's false teachings. In the Jan. 2009 issue of their journal I co-authored an article about "Believing God" and they have done two more articles on Beth Moore since that time;
    http://www.pfo.org/Beth_Moore.htm

In May 2008, seven months after starting my blog, I did a report on "Believing God" exposing this same stuff.

I guess I'm wondering, why is all this stuff about Beth just NOW getting air time?

  3. Right, I think you nailed it CC. Beth Moore gets a pass.

  4. I don't understand it some peoples eyes are being opened and some peoples eyes are being shut and there is enough chatter on the net that these folks should know better.

  5. Thank you again for the heads up Christine. May this article be a clear message of warning to many.

    God bless

  6. Can Beth Moore clarify to us who "the Bride" is since she locks arms with the RCC as our sisters and brothers?

She said "the number one calling to "our calling" is unbelief" Whose calling?

I thought it was God who called-"it is His calling" and HE will finish what he began because HE is the Author and Finisher of our faith~~

He does the calling and His election is SURE...If God is for us who can be against us? no one can lay any charge against God's elect! Not even our failures

  7. "Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light." Ephesians 5:6-13

May we all become exposers of His truth.

  9. Shellie - You're right. You better suit up in the armor of God when you decide to take on Beth Moore. Ladies do not like their idol being challenged.

  10. Glenn, thank you for sharing the articles. I can't believe I never knew this about Beth Moore. I've never read or viewed her things before but I've certainly seen her materials around and heard *a lot* of good things about her. My impression was that she was very straight laced. She's reminding me of Paula White in this video. Please. Make it. Stop.

Christine, when you say "You better suit up in the armor of God when you decide to take on Beth Moore. Ladies do not like their idol being challenged," you are right on the money. I know because I was once that person. There is no way to describe the intensity of the hatred and defiance I had for anyone who tried to tear down my Word of Faith idols. At the base of that was fear. Fear of not being physically healed. Fear of living without God's "best" and God's blessings and favor. I *needed* those things to get through life so I *needed* this teaching to be true. No one could get through to me with the truth.

But praise God that what is impossible with men, is possible with Him (it's nice to actually quote that scripture in context)! When God was pleased to open my eyes, I saw Him for the first time. The god of the Word of Faith Movement is a false god and though I read (certain parts) of my Bible faithfully, I never knew Him. Women are very vulnerable to this type of teaching--especially if they are prone to worry and anxiety like I was and am or were abused in life. It gives a sense of control and power over your life--empowerment--so when someone tries to tear that down, it feels like they are trying to destroy your life.

  11. Christine,

Ken Silva over at Apprisings Ministries explained in an email why the sudden exposure of this series. I'm glad the information is getting out there!

Charlene, I only wish more women would read my articles, as well as Ken's and Christine's, and perhaps eventually she will be banned from churches! Although I won't hold my breath.

  12. Praise God, Charlene! I definitely get what you're saying. I wasn't in WOF, but that kind of thinking has definitely drifted into the conservatie evangelical churches, so I did hear that kind of language, but very subtly. And when God began to re-align my thinking on that, I remember that being a struggle for me. I remember thinking, so let me get this straight...everything is His? okay, really, EVERYTHING? I knew what that would mean. I knew it would mean that there would be sickness, sadness, pain, disease, loss, etc. But isn't that what we see in the Bible? Paul was beaten, stoned, run out of town, imprisoned, shipwrecked.....that kind of persecuted life is really what the Christian's life is.

  13. Be prepared. We are living in an age where we will see a lot of "heroes" slide down into darkness.
(I didn't get this from any mystical source - I just see it happening around me.)
We need to pray for our brothers and sisters that are in leadership positions - they seem to be prime targets.
So many sheeple (Christians who are following an individual instead of Christ) are willing to jump when they say jump - regardless of what the Word of God says!

  14. one of my greatest fears is the fact that we have such an affinity for people more than the word of God and really don't know how to sever/part from them. What are we to do when people who act like a duck, walk like a duck, and quack like a duck? Well, our thinking these days is no way, they can't be a duck.

I fear the remnant-(and God has always had a remnant) is pretty small. Look at Noah-out of 120 years of preaching only 8 people were saved.

then you have men who are steeped in their theology till it's running out their nostrils-erudite men and are no doubt saved, and yet they mock discernment ministries for wasting their time because it's all about Church to them-very provincial in their thinking.

So no wonder why we don't see many of our men stand up like Paul and Peter did and expose error and people. They don't see any need for such. These very people will continue to defend people like John Piper.

  15. I get why people defend John Piper. I've never been big on him because all the Mark Driscoll stuff was going on when I was a new Christian. So I just steered clear, because to me, all that was very confusing.

But, I know that Piper is very respected as a theologian, and I know that he confesses and preaches a sound gospel message. He's not a false teacher or a heretic.

    1. When popular opinion means more than standing for the truth of God’s word then we’ve got a problem and I will stand against the majority no matter how theological he was and how popular he is with “well respected pastors, teachers and theologians. Well respected as a theologian does not disqualify anyone from possibly being a false teacher.

      Scripture warns us of such:

--- Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them" (Acts 20:30)

If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, 2 and the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; 3 thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul" (Deuteronomy 13:1-3)

Could he just be deceived? Could be. I certainly hope that's the case. But what is such an enigma is that he knows theological truths and has been teaching for what 30+ - years and is teaching Lecto Divina now?

He knows better so explain to me when is a person is considered a false teacher?

  16. Hello Sola Sisters,

This comment is really a question not related to Beth Moore. I wanted to know if you had any experience with the book The Circle Maker. I read some of the excerpts and my flag went up, but I can't seem to pinpoint how to communicate what is wrong with it.

    Thanks,

    MAW

  17. MAW -

    From the Amazon website:

"According to Pastor Mark Batterson in his book, The Circle Maker, 'Drawing prayer circles around our dreams isn't just a mechanism whereby we accomplish great things for God. It's a mechanism whereby God accomplishes great things in us.' Do you ever sense that there's far more to prayer, and to God's vision for your life, than what you're experiencing? It's time you learned from the legend of Honi the Circle Maker---a man bold enough to draw a circle in the sand and not budge from inside it until God answered his prayers for his people. What impossibly big dream is God calling you to draw a prayer circle around? Sharing inspiring stories from his own experiences as a circle maker, Mark Batterson will help you uncover your heart's deepest desires and God-given dreams and unleash them through the kind of audacious prayer that God delights to answer."

    Our response:

Where is any of this taught in Scripture? In fact, we both did practices similar to this while in the New Age. Only there it's called Wicca. Sprinkling biblical terminology on top of pagan practices does not somehow magically turn those practices into Christian practices.

Chris Rosebrough did an excellent deconstruction of this pagan practice in a radio show that you can listen to here -

  18. Dear Sola Sisters,
I saw this and thought you might want to get a heads up on the OWS and new age teaming up on March 18 solstice for "Evolution Not Revolution"

    http://www.box.com/s/bn2qsabe5vx758syhbjz

The conscious evolutionary network seeks to create a new civilization—the “Earth Community”—which integrates economics with religion. Earth Community is one of the Occupy Movement’s demands. One might be inclined about now to dismiss this as merely New Age mumbo jumbo, but doing so would be naïve for an honest look at this network reveals deeply rooted political initiatives which have long reached maturity.

  19. Thanks for linking to this video. Something has always seemed a little bit off about Beth Moore, but I've had trouble putting my finger on it.

Watching this video, it suddenly became apparent that Beth is not a study leader, she's a Baptist preacher.

I grew up Southern Baptist. I know a Southern Baptist preacher when I see one. She may not be ordained, but she's clearly a woman preacher, for all practical purposes.

It also makes me uneasy when she implies (as she seems to do in this video) that she has some special channel of communication with God that's not available to the rest of us. Worse, a message like "My bride is paralyzed by unbelief" doesn't even make sense. What bride? Isn't the universal church Christ's bride? What about the faithful believers in places like China, North Korea, or the Muslim world, holding fast to God's word in spite of persecution and poverty? Are they paralyzed with unbelief, too?

Sometimes I despair of being able to join the ladies' Bible study at my church. It's all Beth Moore, all the time.

    1. Try Community Bible Study. It is a line by line study of most of the books of the Bible that is offered at various locations in the US. You can find it at www.communitybiblestudy.org - it will give you the details about the organization and how it works. I've been blessed with it throughout the years. It even has a children's ministry. I gave up on Beth Moore several years ago. I sensed she was off.

    2. I'm not sure I would recommend Community Bible Study (CBS). They have a reading list which includes authors Tim Keller (who embraces monastic mysticism) and Steven Furtick (man-centered theology).

  21. Hello Sola Sisters and brothers and sisters in Christ,

I was wary of Mrs Moore's teachings four years ago when first introduced to her series etc at our church. At the time I thought it was because I was new to the south and simply didn't connect with her style, me being from the north. As time went on, though, I grew more wary of what she was teaching but could not put my finger on why.

Then I went thru a couple of her studies at ladies retreats etc and I ended up writing a blog series on my reaction to what I heard taught at the retreat and wrote another another series on why and how I feel her teachings are not worthy of submitting to. If it is all right, I'll post a couple of links here:
